All majors
China isn’t only MBBS — and your application channel doesn’t change.
Our deep, source-verified coverage is medical, because that is where fake recognition claims cost families the most. But if you are here for engineering, business, IT, agriculture, or any other program, the honest basics are below — and the verified application channel at the bottom of this page works for every major on CUCAS.
1. What Pakistani students commonly go to China for
- Engineering — civil, mechanical, electrical. Check the program’s Washington Accord status via Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) before enrolling; that is the engineering equivalent of the PMDC problem.
- Computer science / IT — large scholarship pool, strong demand back home. Portfolio and GitHub matter more than university brand for this field.
- Business / economics — degrees are cheap to verify later, but rankings and alumni networks vary enormously by city.
- Chinese language — one-year programs, often the cheapest entry point; useful as a foundation year before a degree.
- Agriculture, pharmacy (non-clinical tracks), education — smaller communities but real scholarship lines.
2. The Pakistan-side rule that applies to every degree
Medical degrees are regulated by PMDC. Every other foreign degree a Pakistani earns needs HEC attestation (Higher Education Commission) to be recognized for government jobs, further study, and most employers. Before choosing any program, confirm two things on hec.gov.pk:
- Is the Chinese university itself acceptable for HEC attestation (generally: a recognized, degree-awarding institution — not a training center)?
- Does your study mode (full-time, on-campus) meet attestation requirements? Distance/online programs are a known rejection trap.
3. Scholarships outside medicine
- CSC (Chinese Government Scholarship) — the main national line, applied through campuschina.org or directly through a Chinese embassy stream. Free, but competitive and deadline-driven.
- University scholarships — many provincial universities waive 20–100% of tuition for bachelor’s students with decent HSSC/A-Level grades. This is where zero-budget students actually win.
- Same rule as MBBS: never pay a “scholarship agent.” Real scholarship decisions come from the university or CSC, in writing, on official letterhead.
4. How to apply (any major)
- Shortlist 3–5 universities with programs in your field; verify each on the university’s own .edu.cn website, not an agent’s PDF.
- Check HEC attestation acceptability (point 2 above) and, for engineering, PEC standing.
- Apply through the university portal, CSC, or a verified platform like CUCAS — one application channel, keep every receipt.
- Wait for the admission letter + JW202 form, then apply for the X1 visa at the Chinese embassy in Islamabad.
