What it really costs

MBBS in China fee structure for Pakistani students: tuition, dorm, and the extras.

Short version: your real budget is tuition + dorm bed + insurance + one-off admin costs + living money. For MOE-listed English-medium MBBS programs, third-party compiled tuition ranges run roughly ¥26,000–75,000 per year. A fully documented Beijing example (Capital Medical University) bills about ¥58,300–61,800 per year before living costs. Anyone quoting you a single "package price" is blending numbers you should see separately.

1. The official frame: the MOE English-medium list

China's Ministry of Education restricts English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine (MBBS) to an annually authorized roster of universities — 44 in the most recent official notice (2023–2024 academic year), down from 45 in 2021–2022. MOE statements also say bilingual (mixed Chinese-English) teaching in these programs is prohibited. This matters for fees because it defines your legitimate universe: universities off the list may still happily take your money, and what you pay there may buy a degree that fails PMDC verification. Check the list before you check any price.

2. Tuition: what third-party compilations show

Agent-maintained fee tables agree on a broad band, but individual numbers differ by source and year — treat every one as "verify on the university's own page before budgeting":

SegmentAnnual tuition (third-party compiled)Examples
Budget tier~¥26,000–35,000Ningxia Medical University ¥29,800 (agent source, single-source)
Mid tier~¥36,000–45,000Dalian Medical ~¥42,000; Tianjin Medical ~¥40,000; Shandong ~¥45,000 (agent-compiled)
Premium tier~¥50,000–75,000Capital Medical University ¥50,000 (official); top coastal/flagship programs higher

These compiled figures are indicative only — each number above comes from agent pages, not university invoices.

3. One university, fully documented: Capital Medical University (Beijing)

CCMU publishes its fees in its official international admissions brochure, consistent across recent years:

ItemAmount (official)
Tuition¥50,000/year, payable in full each year
Insurance¥800/year
Accommodation (triple room, per bed)¥7,500–11,000/year
Proof-of-funds requirement at applicationbank deposit ≥ US$15,000

University-billed total: ¥58,300–61,800/year ≈ PKR 2.4–2.55 million/year at the October 2026 rate. Over six years, roughly ¥350,000–371,000 ≈ PKR 14.5–15.3 million in university-billed costs alone — before food and daily life.

4. The extras agents rarely itemize

5. The PKR picture, honestly stated

Agent consensus (an unverified but consistent industry claim) puts a complete six-year China MBBS — tuition, dorm, and living — at roughly PKR 50–80 lakh at budget-to-mid-tier universities. Compare a Pakistan private medical college at PKR 1.2–2 crore over six years; Pakistan also capped private-college fees at PKR 1.8 million/year in 2025, which narrowed the gap at the expensive end.

Notice what drives the low China headline: the ¥26,000–30,000/year schools. Beijing sits at the premium end — you pay more for CCMU, and you get affiliated teaching hospitals (Xuanwu, Chaoyang, Anzhen among them) that budget programs cannot match. Decide what you are buying before you compare sticker prices.

6. How to verify any fee number in an afternoon

  1. Open the university's own international admissions page (not an agent's) and find the current-year brochure PDF.
  2. Email the international office directly — e.g., CCMU: overseas@ccmu.edu.cn — asking for the fee schedule for international MBBS students.
  3. Ask explicitly: tuition payment schedule, dorm options and rates, insurance, refund policy if the visa is refused.
  4. Pay only to the university's public bank account, against an official receipt (fapiao). Never Western Union, never crypto, never a personal account.

FAQ

Can tuition increase during my six years?

Possibly. Universities revise fees between intakes. Signed offer terms usually protect your cohort's rate — get the current written fee schedule and keep it.

Are scholarships subtracted from these fees?

Real scholarships (CSC, Beijing Government, university freshman awards) reduce what you pay — but nobody outside the awarding body can promise one. Treat any "guaranteed scholarship" as a scam flag.

Why do two agents quote different prices for the same university?

Because agents blend service fees, markups, and stale fee data. The university invoice is the only number that matters.

Is Beijing worth the premium?

If clinical training quality and hospital exposure are your priorities, the premium is buying something real. If total cost is the binding constraint, mid-tier MOE-listed programs deliver the same PMDC-eligible degree for far less.
